There has been a noticeable reduction in the size of Motorola’s phones, which has been welcomed by users who dislike bulky phones. This tradition is followed by the Moto G42 as well.

Only 174.5 g makes the phone extremely lightweight. As for its thinness, it is 8.26 mm. So, it’s one of the best phones under 15K because it’s streamlined and lean.

There are a few sharp edges on the phone that can be uncomfortable in the hand.

There is a 6.4-inch AMOLED display on the Moto G42 with a Full HD+ resolution.

The display can only display 60 frames per second, so there is no high refresh rate support. As compared to the Realme 9i and Redmi 10 Prime, both of these devices support 90 Hz refresh rates.

With good color accuracy and good viewing angles, the display produces good visuals.

Motorola Moto G42 Processor & Memory

There’s no 5G connectivity on the Motorola Moto G42 since it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC.

This is complemented by 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64 GB of uMCP internal storage. Unlike the global variant, the Moto G42 only comes in one RAM + storage configuration in India. A microSD card can be used to expand the internal memory up to 1 TB.

Performing most basic tasks without any problems is the first thing you’ll notice about the Moto G42 once you put it to the test. Calling, texting, browsing the web, and using social media are some of these activities.

However, the G42’s 4 GB RAM proves to be a deterrent when it comes to multitasking. There shouldn’t be any difficulties running more than three or four apps simultaneously.

Regardless of the price, the quality of the camera in smartphones is crucial, but, unfortunately, the Moto G42 fails to meet these expectations.

There are three cameras on the phone: a 50-megapixel primary lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide + depth camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. Additionally, there is a 16 MP camera for taking selfies.

As far as HDR shots are concerned, the primary lens produces decent HDR shots with good colors and sharpness in daylight.

But the dynamic range isn’t the best we’ve seen at this price – shadow details get crushed and highlights get overexposed. As well to the 20 MP mode, there’s a 50 MP mode with even more clarity, but it’s even less dynamic.

It looks decent indoors, but when you pixel peeps you will see some softness. It looks nice when you take portraits, as they have good color and decent edge detection. It is disappointing that the Moto G42’s images look extremely soft and noisy in low light, even with Night Mode active.

Similar to the primary lens, the ultrawide lens produces mediocre images with inconsistent color rendition. There is a limited dynamic range, once again.

Since there is no stabilization process on the 2MP lens, macro shots are decent if you have a steady hand. In terms of selfies, they are mediocre, with good colors, but blown-out highlights.

The quality of nighttime selfies is grainy and noisy. The Motorola Moto G42 is equipped with uncompressed image samples that you can check out here.

Video can be recorded at 1080p at 30 frames per second only on the rear and selfie lenses, but the dynamic range and sharpness are not the best. There is no comparison between the Nokia G21 and Redmi Note 10s when it comes to the camera experience.

Among Motorola phones, this is an area where they excel. While the Moto G42 comes with a weak Snapdragon 680 chip and a 5000mAh battery, it manages to last over 1.5 days under moderate usage conditions.

Compared to the Redmi Note 11, this is superior. Battery recharge takes over two hours with only a 20W charger included in the box.
